Is digitisation of services the destination, or more of a journey?
NSW Government has a target of 70% of all services to be digital within 2 years. So in that respect digitisation has been determined to be a destination, and therefore it’s vitally important for agencies to focus on the ‘here and now’.
Not forgetting that digitisation itself also opens the door to more initiatives.
It is that important ‘base camp’ that has its own challenges, but once established lets you go forward and make progress that would otherwise be impossible.
Instead of dealing with technology projections and futures that seem out of reach, this short paper will stay focused on the ‘here and now’ of mobile-centric solutions. It will draw directly on the learnings and experience of three NSW Govt Agencies who are well underway (but by no means complete) with mobile employee/contractor solutions as part of their digital journey.
The discussion should also reinforce the immediate next steps to implementing serious mobile solutions that you can count in months not years, to move you closer to your digitisation objectives.
